HISTORY
In order to enable domestic companies to supply to the nuclear power plants to be establishedin Türkiye, an application was submitted on July 10, 2015, to the Nuclear Industry Cluster Project, in which the Ankara Chamber of Industry acts as the coordinating institution, withinthe scope of the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Following the successful completion of the preliminary evaluation phase—the first stage of the project acceptance process—an “Operational Plan Evaluation Meeting” was held on November 3, 2015, at TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, with the participation of company representatives involved in the project, officials from chambers of industry andcommerce, and representatives from universities, prior to the final evaluation and jurypresentation. During the meeting, collaboration proposals were collected from participatingcompanies, sectoral groups were identified, and it was decided to conduct research on thecompetencies these groups could acquire in the nuclear market.
As a result of the presentation made to the Selection Committee established by the Ministry of Industry and Technology on February 23, 2016, the project was deemed eligible for supportunder the Cluster Support Program.
The NÜKSAK Project, endorsed by a cluster composed of the Ankara, Istanbul, Kocaeli, andAdana Chambers of Industry, Istanbul Technical University, Gedik University, and nearlyforty companies aiming to operate in the nuclear sector, officially commenced its activities on May 2, 2017, with the Cluster Support Program Signing Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and attended by the then Minister, H.E. Dr. Faruk ÖZLÜ.
Since its establishment, the cluster has aimed to enhance the competencies of its members in the nuclear sector through collaborations and agreements established with national andinternational organizations, thereby contributing to the localization of the nuclear industry in Türkiye.
The work packages within the scope of the project have been carried out by the Ankara Chamber of Industry Nuclear Industry Cluster NÜKSAK Economic Enterprise, established byour Chamber, in coordination with the Chambers of Industry of Istanbul, Kocaeli, and Adana. The activities conducted under the project primarily include nuclear quality management andcertification systems, consultancy services, training programs on nuclear-specific weldingtechnologies, R&D studies on stainless steel, and infrastructure activities for technical supportorganization. Through these efforts and the collaborations established, the cluster has evolvedinto a key structure supporting the integration of domestic companies into the nuclear supplychain.
Having successfully completed the program period, the cluster has been re-entitled to receivesupport under the 4th Call of the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Industry andTechnology as of November 15, 2025.
